Frankie & Johnny in the Clair de Lune

For my senior year, the play I have been given designing is Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. I was really excited to be able to work with a director. I enjoy helping people fulfill their artistic ideas by using sound to elevate their work. The sound in this play is mostly the music that is stated explicitly in the show. The director and I discussed the importance the preshow could have. We landed on playing some of the most well-known classical music to create a sense of community. Then slowly a storm rolls in and jumpstarts the show.

Fall Jazz Ensemble ‘23

For the Fall Jazz Ensemble, I had to lead a crew of 2 people in building a small sound system that supported 18 different instrumentalists. I collaborated with the director of the band by figuring out what equipment would best support his performance. You can download my final paperwork with the button below.

I had the honor of working as the assistant sound designer with my friend Camille Everett for her Spring ‘23 Soundscape project. Her project is called Into the Depths. My responsibility was to help her source the sound effects for her sound experience. I learned how to use the L-Acoustics object-based mixing software and later utilized that knowledge when I was given the project of creating my own soundscape for the Fall of ‘24. Next to this is a button that has a link to a YouTube video where she and I discuss the process of creating something like a soundscape.

Roe

I was the assistant designer for the play Roe. I helped assemble the system the head designer created. I worked to put the system together with 3 other people, along with putting together and moving a com system for tech and during the show run. I worked with the A1 to keep the paperwork updated.

Film Experience

While at UNCSA I was allowed to work on 4 student films. I was the boom op for one, the mixer for two, and I cowboyed for my last one. I really enjoyed the energy of being on set. I loved seeing the way people on a film set work together versus how people in a theater work together. I have always been more drawn to film but until coming to college I never got the opportunity to be a part of one.

This is cue letter D. It is an announcement that the radio host made before playing Clair de Lune for the first time. Johnny calls in asking for the “most beautiful music in the world” for him and his new lover. The radio show host responds with this.
